Forged vs. Investment Casting

What are Forged Fittings?

Forged fittings are manufactured by shaping metal under high pressure, producing components with superior grain structure and mechanical properties — higher strength and better fatigue resistance than cast or machined fittings. Available in socket-weld and threaded configurations, typically for small-bore piping (½" to 4") in high-pressure service.

What is Investment Casting?

Investment casting (lost-wax) produces complex shapes with excellent surface finish and tight tolerances — a wax pattern is coated with ceramic, the wax is melted out, and molten metal is poured into the ceramic mold. Ideal for valve bodies, pump components, impellers and custom fittings that cannot be economically forged or machined.
